Wolfram Education Group accredited courses

Commencing in January 2003, Analytica International Pty Ltd and Quantica Pty Ltd joined forces to offer Australia's first Wolfram Education Group accredited Mathematica Training Courses.

For 2008 we will be repeating the popular M101 A First Course in Mathematica and offering the new M205 graphics and visualisation course.

M101 is ideal for those at the "never heard of it" end of the spectrum and is also recommended as a refresher for those who have already had some experience but may not have explored the range of Mathematica's capability.

M205 consists of two mini-courses: M205A Visualization and Graphics and M205B Dynamic Interactivity. This series is designed for people who want to take advantage of Mathematica's graphical and visualization tools as well as version 6's dynamic elements.

You can register for this Wolfram Education Group accredited course at:

http://www.wolfram.com/services/education/calendar.cgi

The instructors for the courses are Dr Paul Abbott (Analytica) and/or Dr John Browne (Quantica).

The dates are: M101 January 17-18. M205 January 19 2008.

The venue is:

Melbourne Business School
200 Leicester Street
Carlton
VIC 3053
Australia

Custom designed courses

We realize that if you work in industry, you and your colleagues are unlikely to have time to attend courses out of hours.

  • We can provide custom-designed in-house courses in applying Mathematica.

  • You benefit, not only by learning to use the most powerful high-level prototyper currently available, but by having your actual problems worked on during the training sessions.

  • Cost: please e-mail for a quotation.

Specialized personal training

Perhaps you have special constraints on you that make it difficult for you to participate in any of our group training courses.

  • Our specialized personal training program might then be of interest to you.

  • You come to one of our university-based training centres, sit down at a computer with Mathematica and an accredited Mathematica trainer, and set your own learning pace.

  • By design, this is a flexible program. You can elect to spend as many days with us as you wish. A typical day is normally most effective when about half the time is spent with the trainer, and half in consolidation on your own. However there is no limit to the amount of  individual assistance you may call on should you desire it during the training period.

  • Cost: please e-mail for a quotation.

Short courses

Quantica is currently developing a program of short courses in using Mathematica.

  • These courses will be set in a convivial university environment and provide a range of levels from introductory to advanced progressing over a number of days. You can choose which days to attend.

  • Let us know if you would be interested in attending a short course. We will then notify you when the dates are set.

  • Cost: Mathematica training (Melbourne CBD): Approximately A$1250/d per person depending on venue charges, minimum 1 day, 2 persons.

  • Courses for University credit

We are currently exploring the development of courseware in the building and programming of mathematical models of engineering systems using Mathematica's powerful high-level programming language.

    • Formats under discussion are for on-campus, on-line and hybrid deliveries.

    • Credit could be towards any mathematics, science, engineering, or technology course. We will provide documentation with which you can approach your own institution.

    • Contact us if this would be of interest to you.

    Principal Trainer

Our Principal Trainer is Dr. John Browne. He has:

    • Taught undergraduates, postgraduates, and faculty to use and apply Mathematica in their courses and research since 1991.

    • Lived and worked in Australia and the United States both as an engineer and academic, and most recently as Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

    • Developed and taught courses in Technology Modelling, Probabilistic Design and Programming for Engineers for undergraduate mechanical engineering students over the past five years, using Mathematica for his lectures, course notes, assignments and problem solving.
